Our bad lifestyle choices will always have a negative effect on our health. All parts of our bodies are connected, so if one of them is in bad shape, it can affect the others, too. Here are the three bad habits that cause erectile dysfunction. If one or more of them are part of your routine, it’s time to do something about it.
1. Drinking
It is a well-known fact that alcohol consumption on a regular basis damages your internal organs. But it’s also one of the top habits that cause erectile dysfunction.
First of all, alcohol damages your sex glands, which results in wrinkled testicles. It also reduces your body’s testosterone levels, thus decreasing sexual desire as a result. Furthermore, it harms your liver cells, which then leads to hormonal imbalance and lower sperm count. As such, heavy drinking may also lead to ED.
2. Smoking
Smoking is also among the dangerous habits that cause erectile dysfunction. The nicotine in cigarettes affects your coronary health and disrupts the blood flow in your body. To achieve erection, you need a healthy flow of blood to and from your penis.
As a rule, smokers have low blood pressure in the penis blood vessels. Because of this, they find it more difficult to get an erection, which in turn causes a lot of related problems. Even if you’re not someone who smokes a pack a day, if you smoke just one or two before sex, you’re more likely to have some performance issues.
3. Lack of Sleep
We have hectic schedules and want to squeeze everything into a single day. To do this, the first thing we will sacrifice is our sleep. But cutting your sleep cycle short is a major health risk and something you should avoid at all costs.
While we’re asleep, our bodies adjust the hormone levels to be able to operate the next day. Sleep deprivation will disrupt testosterone production, which is the one thing you need to achieve erection. What’s more, if you don’t get enough sleep at night, your immune system will be at risk, too. This will then cause many health problems you will have to deal with.
